| “The mission of Campus for Kids (CFK) is to provide a caring, wholesome, secure environment where every child is nurtured to their fullest potential in wisdom, knowledge and stature through Christian principles.”
Campus for Kids, Buckeye Road Day Care began operation in August, 1977, with 7 children. CFK grew from a desire of Madison Gospel Tabernacle and Pastor Warren Heckman to meet a community need. As a Christ-centered school, its commitment is to help children between the ages of six weeks to twelve years develop by providing a caring, wholesome, secure environment where every child is nurtured to their fullest potential in wisdom, knowledge and stature. The importance of parental involvement is encouraged so that Campus for Kids will have an effect on the total family. Campus for Kids was birthed and continues to be an outreach ministry of City Church (formerly Lake City Church as well as Madison Gospel Tabernacle). Sandra C. Olsen was CFK’s Administrator for more than twenty years. Campus for Kids was initially known as, Buckeye Road Day Care. We are now Campus for Kids Learning Center, to give the community a better view of the services that we provide. CFK was first licensed by the State of Wisconsin in 1977 and continues to be in good standing with the state and community. Over the years, CFK has provided a Spring Program, K4 Graduation, Summer Fun Party, Christmas Program, miscellaneous classroom parties and parent breakfasts. This was so parents and the community are aware of CFK student’s activities and accomplishments. In the past, we have participated in the Kids’ Expo at the Alliant Center, giving us the opportunity to advertise our services to many parents and children. Campus for Kids expanded its program in 1978 to include care and transportation for school children and a summer program designed for that age group. To accommodate the increase in enrollment, CFK used the Abundant Life Christian School elementary and high school building for classroom space. In the fall of 1998, the Lake City Church Council and Congregation gave the go-ahead to begin a building project for a 30,000 square foot building for Campus for Kids. We moved into our new facilities in August of 1999. The new facilities have provided additional space for more classrooms, 2 large teacher resource rooms and two unique fenced-in play grounds. Campus for Kids fosters a safe and healthy environment by contracting with a hospital-quality cleaning service. Security is also of high importance at CFK. Parents use a computerized attendance system, in addition to signing their children in and out on classroom clipboards. Today CFK continues to provide quality care and educational opportunities from a Christian perspective for the children in our community.
