What’s not to love about my job? One day I might be lunching with the school-agers on the roof top of Monona Terrace, other days find me poolside or at the bowling alley. I’m always up for cooking with the kids and enjoy planning special days and events that are healthy, safe, fun and enriching. With the talents and resources of our three school-age teachers, we’re able to bring some truly amazing activities to our “Campus” kids! My faith has always been central in my life. He keeps me grounded. Music, my cat, vibrant colors, books, friends and family all bring joy to my life. Eating out, quiet evenings at home and watching movies are past times I love. Being around children has been a life-long goal for me. As a teenager I babysat for neighborhood families and joined the Future Teachers Club. After high school I went on to UW Platteville to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education K-6, with a Library Science minor. Teaching elementary school filled the next twenty-one years of my life. Becoming principal of a small private school in southwestern Wisconsin was my next challenge. I earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Edgewood College and went on to two other principal positions before returning to the Madison area. Ms. Carla approached me about working at Campus for Kids, and it has been my privilege to serve in several different capacities during my time here. One of my favorite Bible stories also centers on children and comes from Matthew, Chapter 18…The disciples were asking Jesus “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And He called a child to Himself and stood him in their midst, and said, “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever receives one such child in my name receives me.” |
